Chios Castle is a medieval fortress of great historical importance, situated at Kalothetou 10 in the heart of Chios Town on Chios Island, Greece. This well-preserved castle, bearing traces from the Byzantine, Genoese, and Ottoman periods, magnificently reflects the island's rich historical past. Right next to the castle's main entrance, the Giustiniani Palace hosts archaeological and art exhibitions, while the Ottoman-era hammams have also been successfully restored and opened to visitors. The open-air spaces within the castle provide an ideal setting for photography and leisurely strolls, and an on-site cafe offers visitors a chance to relax and enjoy the castle views. The castle is wheelchair accessible, featuring spacious seating areas and a family-friendly environment, making it appealing to visitors of all ages. Admission is 5 Euros for adults and 3 Euros for a reduced ticket. The castle is open daily from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, except on Tuesdays.

The Armolia - Apolichna Castle Hiking Trail is a scenic route located in southern Chios, Greece. Starting from Armolia village, it leads to the historic Apolichna Castle. Admission is free. This approximately 1,355-meter long trail is clearly marked with red arrows, offering visitors a safe and accessible route. Along the route, hikers will discover plains covered with olive and mastic trees, steep slopes shaded by pine and kermes oaks, and magnificent Aegean vistas. You can touch the mastic trees, savor their unique scent, and even observe the resin harvesting process firsthand during the appropriate season. The trail culminates at Apolichna Castle, built in 1440 by the Genoese Nikolao Justiniani. With its trapezoidal ramparts, double walls, defensive towers, 62 internal rooms, water cistern, and church, it stands as one of southern Chios's most impressive historical structures.
